JESUS IS PERFECT

JESUS IS PERFECT

PK (Y1)

WELCOME TO WEEK 3

This week we will learn that Jesus was unusual because he is Perfect! We make mistakes sometimes but Jesus did not sin! This week we will see how Jesus withstood temptation and what we can do to resist temptation as well.

BIBLE STORY

Jesus is unusual, He is perfect! Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, or desert by Satan, but Jesus did not sin. Satan tempted him and Jesus responded with scripture each time.

In the wilderness or desert there is often a lot of sand and not a lot of food or water. Using kinetic sand or a sand table, or rice, to play in the sand. Make shapes or write letters in the sand. Say “In the wilderness there was a lot of sand. He was hot and tired and very hungry.

Materials: kinetic sand, Rice, or Sand table

Read the Bible story for the week Luke 4:1-13

Jesus was in the wilderness for how long? ( 40 days)

Why was he fasting while in the wilderness? (To focus on God and not on food)

Do you think he was hungry when he was fasting? (yes, he was also human and therefore became hungry as well)

While Jesus was in the wilderness or desert who came to tempt him? (Satan)

Satan wanted to cause Jesus to sin so he would be defeated. How did Jesus respond to each of Satan’s questions or temptations. (By answering using the truth from Scripture)

Jesus did not sin in any of his answers because he used scripture to defeat Satan. When we are tempted we can ask and trust that God will help us because he has already won.

Practical Application at Home

We are sometimes tempted to follow our friends or do something we know is wrong. Sometimes it is hard to make the right choices, especially when we think no one is looking. We can know that God will help us win because Jesus did things perfectly. We can not do things perfectly on our own but we can ask Jesus to help us make the right choices. This week when you are tempted to do something wrong like cheat, steal or not obey your parents, stop and ask Jesus to help you make the right choice instead.

1. This week think of ways you have asked Jesus to help you make the right choices and write them down, or draw a picture. Praise and thank God for helping you make the right choices.

2. Parents, observe ways your child may be struggling to make the right choice and help guide them in their decisions with reminders of how Jesus wants to help them. Praise God with your child when you see Jesus help them overcome.

3. Sometimes we do fall into temptation because we all make mistakes. When this happens pray and ask God for forgiveness. Try hard not to do it again and be sure to ask Jesus to be with you.
